I finally have a little time to look into SpriteBuilder / Cocos2D combo as the main game development setup and I have an open ended question for those who did it before me. Any stories from the development trenches?
The editor looks smooth and the whole setup seems to take care of a lot of things for you. However, the devil is always in the details. For example, it's one thing to shoot birds shaped like balls around the screen and it's a different thing to create a polished game such as Badland. How much do you need to fight the framework to implement your own shaders, or a more sophisticated resource loading mechanisms, or verlet physics simulation? If you guys have some stories of your own, please share. Thank you!
