I hope you don't mind me posting this here, but I thought it might be useful for some. I've been working on a free Bitmap Font tool for indie devs as a way to learn the Qt framework and wanted to share it with you.
Sprite Font Builder is "Yet Another Bitmap Font Generator" (maybe I should've called it that) built to work across Windows, OS X and soon Linux. It can take a font, a bunch of settings and export a BM Font for use in Cocos2d. From my basic testing, it appears to support Japanese characters etc too.
While primarily a learning task I wanted to try to bring something new to the table as well...
Unlimited FX layers: Stroke, Shadow (Inner, Outer) , Fill (Colour, Pattern, Gradient). With a dozen or so Blend Modes you can make some pretty complicated textured characters.
Ability to save the configuration, including Export options and path. This means you can export both a normal and retina version of the font for your game with a single click.
Hope this is useful to some people. I intend on releasing the source code on Github once I've tidied it up a bit. In the next couple of weeks I intend to add some additional 'Export' options and a couple of new effects.
Any and all feedback appreciated!
