after some initial problems I can finally come up with a running "Cocos2D for Augmented Reality" framework. You can check out the github repository "ocv_ar-cocos2d" to get an overview about the features and how to use it. The basic idea is to provide a small library for AR based games, interfaces and visualizations on mobile devices. The included AR system is based on ocv_ar, which itself is based on OpenCV. You might also use a different AR system as long as it provides the 3D transformation information of found markers as OpenGL matrices.
The project is published as open source. Feel free to ask questions and please submit any bugs that you might find. So far I could only test it with an iPad 2 and 3. So if anyone has the time to run it on an iPad 4, I would be glad to hear your results.
