I've just about finished the first version of my Cocos2d word game and am thinking of also adding a leaderboard for players. I don't want to use Game Center as my plan is to release the Android version too later. I just want a simple service which will store and sort the records so players can see their personal top scores in addition to regular global leaderboard.
@gatsby I have developed a game that have leaderboard feature as well. In my game what i have used is App42 Service API for leaderboard, i suggest you to try this, you can read more about it on their blog.
GREE (old openfeint) looks nice, it is multiplatform with social integration:
Google Games Services works on both iOS and Android:
I am NOT sure about GREE anymore after the openfient fiasco. App42 leaderboards look good and I've tried their sample - its simple and thats what I am looking for. Thanks!
App42 offers backend services for games and application like user managements, Storage, Push notification many more. It also offers leaderboards with facebook integration.Using this we can build leaderboards that show a global ranking as well as just between the user’s friends rank list. You can take a look at App42 - for Android/iOS SDK . A good starting point will be to take a look at the following. http://api.shephertz.com/tutorial/Managing-Leaderboard/?index=gameApp-leaderboard
Haven't looked into it much lately, but I heard Amazon now has "GameCircle" which I'm pretty sure is cross platform. Last time I checked though I don't think it has as many features as GC (multiplayer api, ect.) Just leaderboard and achievements.
