okay. if using assets is the solution i will try that. but i haven't worked with them yet so i have a few questions if you don't mind. do asset catalogs work like sprite sheets? so if i put all my images into an asset catalog, do i get one draw call per asset catalog or can i load my sprite sheets within the asset catalog?
but i'm still not sure what you mean by setup problem. i didn't change a line of code, i just added a picture with twice the resolution. i now have it called ic_launcher-2x.png and i changed the two lines from -1x to -2x like you suggested and this is how it looks on the iPhone4s simulator:
my image is twice as big as the cocos logo if i run the app without my image
edit: okay ... so i tried something different. i called the new picture ic_launcher-hd.png instead of "-2x" and changed appDelegate to this
and this seems to fix my problem. however, if i change any of the other -1x or -2x to something else, stuff stops working again. im not sure if this is how it's supposed to work, but it's working for me. thanks for the help. i now have successfully updated my game to 3.5
