I've given my opinion on SB before (don't use it), but my comment was more so that topics should stay on topic, and this thread has turned into ANOTHER "keep SB even though no one can support it" debate.
Although I've yet to test it (as I'm still using an old Xcode that is working with Apportable), CCProjectGenerator seems neat and seems like the way forward for the future of Cocos2D Objective-C (Swift?). You don't see Unity having a legacy app (that is what SB is now, a legacy tool) to create a project.
Cocos2D needs to compete with other development tools in order to attract people, and I think showing it's more data-driven than design driven (again, like Unity, or Defold engine) is the direction it should take.
This version of Cocos2D needs to attract new developers, and having 1 single eco system to do it is the right approach in doing so... Not having a confused toolset and an even more confused existing community.
My personal opinion (and not trying to offend or insult anyone) is the sooner SB is removed from this forum/being associated with Cocos2D-iOS, the better.
